HPUX Workstations

HP discontinued their PA-RISC C8000 Workstation and all upgrade components on the 1st December 2007. As there will be no replacement offered the only option open to users is to buy refurbished units.

HP Withdraw Support for HPUX Workstations

When the C8000 was launched in 2004 HP said they were the first workstation vendor to offer industry-leading AGP 8X graphics and the latest HP zx1 chipset, providing more than four times the graphics, processor and memory bandwidth than previous models as well as 25 percent lower memory latency and twice the compute power. HP classed the C8000 as being ideal for handling the complexities of large model, system assemblies, design analysis and simulations.

Although C8000’s are still benefiting many customers HP has stated “over the last seven years, the industry has seen a dramatic shift toward industry standard Personal Workstations. At this time, more than 96% of global workstation sales are Personal Workstations. With this industry-wide volume shift, we can no longer secure the critical components needed to enhance or manufacture the PA-RISC workstations.”

HP is providing a portfolio of high performance Personal Workstation products to follow on from the HP C8000 however these do not run HPUX.
